DELIGHTED Sun readers are backing our Give Us A Brake campaign to slow down the Government’s ruinous race to net zero.

Locals described the scheme as “barmy” and thankfully it has been put on hold after protests.

Yesterday Paul, who drives a BMW 3 series, said: “I’m backing The Sun’s campaign 100 per cent.

“What they had planned in Canterbury was a mad idea. It would punish people for simply wanting to get about.”

Van driver Luke Wood supports our manifesto to ban low-emission zones — including London’s Ulez extension— and delay the 2030 ban on selling new petrol and diesel vehicles.

Luke read about our campaign while taking a break at Pease Pottage service station near Crawley, West Sussex.

He said: “Good for The Sun, sticking up for drivers who are being told what cars to buy.

“Speed bumps, cameras, one-way signs and now no-car zones are a right pain for those of us who make deliveries.”

In Oxford, where a low-traffic zone was brought in despite huge opposition, readers hailed our stand.

Property developer Conrad Crooks, 51, said: “If The Sun can help get rid of the low-traffic zone we’d be delighted.”

Barber Hamed Panahi, 32, added: “It has made life extremely difficult for my customers. Bollards now block the roads.”
